Secondhand September 2020

Secondhand September is a campaign created by Oxfam GB that encourages people to buy only secondhand and refrain from purchasing any new clothing for the month of September. Although this campaign comes out of Great Britain, by no means does it imply that only those living in GB can participate. Oxfam is a global organization, and fast fashion is a global issue.

I participated last September and it was a lot of fun capturing my outfits in photos. This year, I decided to kick it up a notch - every day in September I challenged myself to create an image for Secondhand September using secondhand clothing and other items. My hope was to not only stretch my creativity to a new level, but to inspire others to take part in Secondhand September as well.

Compiled below are all of the images I created during the month of September, which I originally posted on my Instagram (@karriegash). I also created an Instagram Stories highlight (here!), which includes some behind-the-scenes for some of the images. Feel free to check them out and let me know which day was your favorite!

  • The post from 9/11 was not for Secondhand September, however I still wanted to include it here.
